BANGOR, ME — The Acadia Hospital President and CEO David S. Proffitt, PhD, joined the Maine Hospital Association Board of Directors at the association’s Summer Forum held at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.
Dr. Proffitt, who will serve as chair of the Mental Health Council, joins other new board members Dr. Larry Hopperstead, chief medical officer, Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston; Peter Chalke, president/CEO, Central Maine Healthcare; and Geno Murray, president/CEO of C.A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
The MHA’s Mental Health Council provides timely advice and guidance regarding important issues around mental health in Maine, says EMHS president and CEO Michelle Hood, FACHE. “I am pleased that David will be serving in this capacity, his depth of knowledge of mental health issues and empathy for the people who require these services will serve the council and the MHA board well,” Hood adds.
