Inland Foundation’s Fall Pops ~ largest orchestra to date

/uploadedImages/Gclefsymbol1.jpgThe Inland Foundation’s Fall Pops Benefit concert will feature a lively and familiar show tunes from Broadway and London’s West End, including “Phantom of the Opera,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Wicked,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Rent” performed by the almost 40 of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra’s finest musicians, led by Trond Saeverud and featuring Suzanne Nance, MPBN’s host of "Morning Classical Music," as a special guest soprano.

The concert will be at 7 pm on Friday, October 30 at the Waterville Opera House—with all proceeds supporting the Bickford Medical Simulation Program at Inland Hospital. The Bickford Medical Simulation Program will feature four high-tech computerized mannequins called “patient simulators” that can be programmed to mimic a variety of complex medical scenarios, such as trauma, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and airway obstructions. Two of the simulators are a mother and newborn and will allow staff to practice complicated obstetrics deliveries. The unique equipment tests staff and physicians’ clinical and decision-making skills with immediate performance feedback.

According to Rick Barry, RN, BSN, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Inland, “The use of human patient simulation provides an opportunity to reduce medical errors and their severity while improving patient care. The simulators allow for repeated practice of routine procedures, as well as rare conditions and life-threatening emergencies, all in a real-time environment.”

/uploadedImages/musicalnotes1.jpg In its fourth year, the Fall Pops concerts have raised more than $145,000 and supported projects at Inland, such as the expansion of the Emergency Department and a project to link Inland’s ICU with the specialists at EMMC. Patron ticket holders are invited to a special "meet the musicians" gourmet dessert reception directly after the concert.

To buy tickets to the Saturday evening concert, call the Waterville Opera House at 873-7000 or visit www.operahouse.com
